Winners of “Let it Shine” Contest Revealed

April 26, 2012

The Littman Brands, parent company to Corbett Lighting, Hudson Valley Lighting, Troy Lighting, and CSL (Creative Systems Lighting), announced the winners of its first-ever lighting competition, “Let It Shine.” The competition, which was open to U.S. designers, sought “creative uses” for any Littman Brands fixture in an installation.

Projects were judged by a panel of design experts along with team members of Littman Brands. Winners received a $500 credit towards a chandelier of their choice, in addition to being featured in Littman Brands’ inaugural Winter 2012 issue of Larger Than Light, a bi-yearly four-color print magazine.

“Launched in connection with our magazine, the ‘Let It Shine’ contest was a way for us to show our fixtures in well-designed real life applications,” said Steve Nadell, president of Littman’s West Coast Group. “Our basic vision was to bring our fixtures to life, or as we say, ‘to light.’ When you look at the three winners, you can see that our lighting brands provide a means of expression that is not only integral to a home or space, but that also reflects the character of the designer, end-user or homeowner.”

Winning submissions for “Let It Shine” included a Raleigh, NC, residential project (pictured) completed by the design team of Judy Pickett, FASID, and Lauren McKay, ASID, which featured Corbett Lighting’s historically inspired Bryant Park pendant fixture. Poised over a marble-topped island in an Old-World style kitchen, Bryant Park directs light to the busy tasking station.

M&K Lighting of Stillwater, OK, chose Corbett Lighting’s Vertigo pendant to enhance a casual entertaining and dining space. Flanked by a row of track lighting and used in conjunction with a row of island pendants, the pair of Vertigo pendants help define the space and add visual interest.

Charleston, SC-based Sandra Ericksen, of Sandra Ericksen Design, opted to take her space, a master bedroom for the 2010 Charleston Symphony Orchestra League designer showhouse, to new heights with the addition of Troy Lighting’s Sausalito. Located in a historic townhouse in downtown Charleston, Ericksen created an updated version of a federalist-style interior

Based on the interest and the number of exemplary entrants, Littman Brands has launched “Let It Shine” for a second time with an upcoming deadline of May 15, 2012. Winners will again receive a $500 credit toward a chandelier of their choice from any one of the Littman Brands, in addition to having their project featured in the Summer 2012 issue of Larger Than Light.
