Designing for Good

December 21, 2017

The Kips Bay Palm Beach Show House, the debut satellite event from the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York City, has officially launched, benefitting both the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. Featuring 17 of the nation’s most talented interior design firms, the show house is located at 196 Belmonte Road in West Palm Beach’s historic El Cid Neighborhood.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to finally open the doors for the Kips Bay Palm Beach Show House at Villa Belmonte,” said James Druckman, Kips Bay Board of Trustees president. “Designers have come from all over the country to showcase the best in design for a worthwhile cause: helping support more than 18,000 disadvantaged children in New York and Florida.”

In less than two months, this group of designers completely transformed each room of the house. With bright bold hues, intricate patterns and novel wall treatments, each room offers creativity and innovation.

Kitchen
Designer: Matthew Quinn, Design Galleria Kitchen and Bath Studio, Atlanta
Metallic accents and mixed metals reign in Quinn’s kitchen. Referred to as the “Quintessential Kitchen,” the space is anchored by a La Cornue range and features a walk-in pantry and two sinks outfitted with Kohler faucets in a brushed-gold finish. Quartz countertops by Cambria provide an updated spin on the classic marble look, and a spacious island transforms the cooking area into a powerhouse space for both cooking and entertaining.

Andrea’s Retreat – the Lady’s Room
Designer: Chris Drake of Boston-based Bierly-Drake Associates
Following Coco Chanel’s words of wisdom – that every chic room contains some elements in black – the space juxtaposes black textured walls and a black Kohler toilet with lighter, more ethereal items: mirrored paneling, crystal lighting, acrylic and mirrored furnishings and luxurious fabrics. The masterful mix of statements creates a romantic look.

Powder Room
Designer: Michael Stornello and Tom Konopiots, Chicago-based Vincere, Ltd.
The team at Vincere, Ltd. infused what they call a “Palm Beach Fever Dream” vibe into the area with a hand-painted de Gournay wallcovering on silver gilded silk. The group used all kinds of fabrics and materials, such as a custom pouf, silk velvet sconce fabric and the marble floor tile and vanity countertop.

Proceeds from Kips Bay Palm Beach will benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, marking a first-time collaboration effort between the two chapters.
