Feeling Good in Your Kitchens & Baths

August 29, 2019

Design for health and wellness is a huge movement in the residential kitchen and bath industry. Busy schedules and an overload of technology at your fingertips have consumers aching for products and design elements that make their lives easier and relaxing with added health and wellness benefits.

Someone defined wellness as dependent entirely on one’s perspective, personality and energy in our most recent poll of the Houzz community of consumers and industry professionals, where we asked which features they incorporate to encourage wellness at home.

In addition to our choices, some of the suggestions included simple designs with a lack of clutter; dual-glaze, sound-reducing windows and pets.

The poll tally as of press time was a total of 172 votes. We wanted to see what is most important to respondents in regard to how they infuse health and wellness into their homes.

Bring in the Outdoors

“Indoor plants, garden space, lots of covered outdoor space for year-round use,” were ideas from another homeowner, who also suggested a location close to trails.

One pro suggested designing spaces with views toward nature, and another homeowner said she likes to see flower arrangements everywhere, all the time.
