2015 NAHB Remodeler of the Year Announced

December 28, 2015

Greg Rehm CGR, CAPS, CGP, founder of Bedford, N.H.-based Liberty Hill Construction, has been recognized by the NAHB Remodelers as its National Remodeler of the Year, an award that acknowledges not only contributions to the association, but also service to the industry, his community and overall business excellence.

In 2014, Liberty Hill Construction completed 35 jobs on $1.4 million in revenue, an average job size of approximately $45,000. This year, the company expects to end slightly higher in revenue on three fewer jobs. Focusing on fewer, bigger jobs is a strategy gives the company more opportunity to let dollars fall to the bottom line. Rehm’s firm is tracking for double figures in net profit this year, and he’s got his team focused on using fully burdened labor, a 1.53 markup and laser-like attention to slippage in order to preserve and grow profit.

Rehm got his start in the industry during college while earning a degree in environmental sciences. He made extra money doing carpentry, and when he landed in Bedford in the mid-1990s, he began working as an assistant to a framing contractor before launching his own business. During early days Rehm took small jobs he could finish in a week or so, and his first big break prior to founding Liberty Hill Construction was earning the right to remodel the minister’s house at a prominent local Presbyterian church.

Rehm worked solo, “wearing all of the hats” from 1998 to 2005, when he made the decision that in order to grow he needed to hire an assistant. Today Rehm holds three NAHB designations: Certified Graduate Remodeler, Certified Aging in Place Specialist and Certified Green Professional.
