April 22, 2020

Plum, the creator of the first fully automated appliance for wine, announced it has appointed Michael Traub to its Board of Directors, as it moves forward with its global expansion. Traub is an experienced global CEO and board advisor with an extensive background in consumer durables. He was formerly CEO of Serta Simmons Bedding and prior to that served as CEO of BSH Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group North America and Latin America. As a director, Traub will help lead Plum into its new chapter of growth, bringing his decades of appliance industry and consumer experience and positioning the company well for expansion.

“Michael Traub is a force within the consumer durables sector, and we are thrilled to have such an experienced leader join our Board,” said David Koretz, founder & CEO of Plum. “Having demonstrated his successful leadership time and time again over the course of his career, we are certain that his contribution to Plum will help us accomplish our goals during this next phase of growth.”

Throughout his career, Traub developed strategies to drive profitable growth and continuous improvement. He spent the majority of his career leading global businesses, building and positioning brands, and executing merger and acquisitions. During his leadership tenure as CEO and board member at Serta Simmons Bedding, he led the company through the most significant transformation in its history, making it the global leader in the sleep industry, and he oversaw the introduction of innovative marketing campaigns, lean production systems and the launch of smart sleep technology. Through his experience, he recognizes the need for market leading traditional companies to adapt to digital disruption.

Prior to Serta Simmons Bedding, Traub was president and CEO, North America for BSH Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group. He successfully positioned the brands Bosch, Thermador and Gaggenau in the premium and luxury segments of the market. Traub drove profitable growth in all categories and developed excellent relationships with retailers, designers and builders. Under his leadership, Bosch became the market leader in dishwashing.

Plum is the most exciting consumer appliance I have seen in a long time, leveraging software and technology to deliver a transformative user experience,” said Traub. “We share a vision for how the appliance industry evolves, and I look forward to leveraging more than two decades of industry experience to help guide Plum to the next level.”
