Connecting with Color in Our Kitchens and Baths

November 10, 2021

On this week’s “From the Tap” KBB podcast, we spoke with Arianne Bellizaire, owner of Baton Rouge-based Arianne Bellizaire Interiors, about all things color with regard to residential projects.

This award-winning designer is a certified True Color Expert, and she believes in guiding her clients through a step-by-step process so they can better understand what their projects will entail. She says she really knows how to read hues and ensure that they work well together.

Bellizaire shares how colors can show up differently in a room at different times of day and how they can add to a person’s health and well-being. She spoke to how homeowners are connecting with color differently since they have been spending so much more time in their own spaces and really making them their own. Hint: People may not be going the “safe” route with color these days and may be choosing more tones that match their personality.

The designer also spoke to how color can energize people, as well as reduce stress, and she told us how she goes about choosing the palette for her kitchen and bath projects. Bellizaire has been on both sides of the coin in terms of clients wanting to go too bold or not bold enough, and she has developed solutions to those scenarios.

If the homeowners are planning to live in their residence for five more years, the designer believes they need to create a space that makes them happy – not paying too much attention to the resale value. She also shared her ideas for fun and unexpected ideas for incorporating colors into the home – many of which she has gotten from KBIS exhibitors.
