January 29, 2021

In conjunction with its Rainshower SmartConnect launch, Grohe‘s commissioned a survey about American showering habits. The study revealed that since the pandemic started, showering has given Americans a sense of safety, control and normalcy at a time when life is anything but. The data shows that nearly 1 in 2 Americans are finding sanctuary in the shower, viewing the daily ritual as a form of self-care.

Additional survey results include:

  • Three in 10 Americans have changed their showering habits since the start of the pandemic, including spending more time in the shower and showering more often.
  • Fifty-two percent of Americans admit showering has helped them feel safe since the pandemic began.
  • Forty-five percent of Americans admit that showering has helped them relieve stress.
    • Fifty-one percent of parents say that showering facilitated stress relief.
    • Women are more likely to view a shower as self-care and admit that it helps alleviate stress.
    • Men are more likely than women to shower more often and spend more time in the shower.
    • One-third of Americans go so far as to say that showering has helped them keep a sense of normalcy.
