Thompson Traders Brass Sinks

May 8, 2021

Thompson Traders is expanding its selection of luxurious, hand crafted kitchen and bath pieces with the introduction of three new brass sinks. The additions come in three distinct styles—the Tamayo prep sink features a square design with subtle curves, the De La Cruz prep sink is a classic circular bowl, and the Villa, one of the brand’s most sought after designs, is a broad rectangular undermount sink—all of the new products exude understated elegance.

“We originally introduced our brass designs more than five years ago, and because brass adds a touch of refinement to popular design aesthetics, we decided to extend our Brass Collection,” says Alejandra Ochoa de Thompson, founder and creative director of Thompson Traders. “These new products add a bold and beautiful centerpiece to kitchens or bars. From organic modernism to grandmillennial style, brass is now embraced as a go-to metal.”

Brass Plays Well with All Metals

The warm, lustrous feel of hand-hammered brass, made by skilled artisans from Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico—taking two weeks to artfully produce—compliments other metal materials or furnishings in a space. Brass can help create an eclectic, yet harmonious mixed metal aesthetic so many clients desire.

“Brass looks stunning with burnished nickel, as well as oil-rubbed bronze,” advises Samantha Thompson Lizarraga, director and co-owner of Thompson Traders. “However, you can truly make a statement when paired with matte black.” A duo—such as the hand-hammered Villa brass kitchen sink and a matte black range hood—brings next level sophistication to any kitchen.

Evolving Beauty

Because it has a living finish, each brass sink will patina as it ages. Waxing can slow the process, but many prefer the evolution of the metal’s finish. An ideal material for sinks, brass is incredibly durable and extremely resilient. Thompson Traders’ hand-hammered brass sinks are designed to be passed through generations. They can be removed and reinstalled in another home, becoming unique family heirlooms, moving from one house to another as families grow. Available in standard sizes, the Tamayo, De La Cruz and Villa brass sinks are also completely customizable to suit a clients’ décor. Each sink includes a matching drain. These new products join Thompson Trader’s hallmark brass sink collection which includes the Quirgoa Apron Front Sink and the Rivera Prep Sink.
