Gaggenau 400 Series Vario Downdraft

November 10, 2021

Gaggenau launches its advanced 400 Series Vario Downdraft Ventilation System, a re-engineered solution that draws odor and vapor down into the countertop before they have a chance to offend.

Downdraft ventilation has historically presented performance assumptions and functional challenges. Gaggenau, the inventor of downdraft ventilation in Europe in 1976, has evolved this concept to a new level of performance, offering a solution that addresses both the senses and unique possibilities afforded by its design. The Vario 400 Series Downdraft Ventilation pays testament to this with advanced noise reduction, optimized air management and design flexibility to remove sensory distractions so you can enjoy company and culinary creations without a hood.

The modularity of the integrated system not only allows for the perfect combination of ventilation and a customized cooktop assortment—Teppan Yaki, gas, wok, electric grill and induction—but also offers design flexibility with the ability to be placed against a wall or in an island.

An all-new automatic function – guided by an air quality sensor—detects odor and reacts automatically, self-regulating the ventilation power settings while the cooktops are in use. The new Vario 400 Series Downdraft Ventilation also integrates with Home Connect, which monitors filter saturation levels, adjusting the air quality sensor and sending a notification when the filters need to be reset or regenerated.

Exclusive to Gaggenau, an entirely bespoke engineered end-to-end ventilation system reduces noise due to holistically designed, special metal ducting accessories and an assortment of high-performing blowers to optimize the airflow and control the sound no matter the design or configuration.

Unlike traditional hood solutions, the modularity of the integrated system—Vario 400 Series Downdraft Ventilation—not only works in perfect combination with the Vario cooktops from the same series but allows for more design flexibility.

An all-new seven-layer metal grease filter is the first step to ensure the perfect catch of grease, steam and odor. The appliance housing is made from anodized aluminum; its construction provides the smoothest surface for cleaning, offering unrivaled hygiene.

This elegantly integrated system removes sensory distractions and focuses attention on uninterrupted views, beautiful design, comfortable conversation and the aroma of prepared cuisine.

Every Gaggenau downdraft ventilation is hand-built in France and rigorously tested under real-life conditions, ensuring the best performance.
