The clear rubber ring around the top forms a water tight seal when in the closed position, protecting it from spills and preventing water damage to the unit. Simply pull up on the metal handles for access to power when you need it, and press the release button to drop back down below the surface when you do not. The lid sits nearly flush with the surface while closed, sitting only 5/8 inches above the surface. The grommets are made with aluminum siding with a plastic face and your choice of a satin aluminum or black aluminum trim ring on top.
