The annual competition has become a coveted honor that recognizes outstanding kitchen projects that incorporate BlueStar professional-style appliances for the home, including ranges, gas and electric wall ovens, kitchen hoods and premium refrigeration. The Grand Prize winner receives BlueStar appliances for his/her home kitchen and the title BlueStar Kitchen Designer of the Year.

“We are excited to celebrate inspiring kitchen design. The kitchen, a central hub of home life, is arguably the most high-traffic and important room in the house,” said Eliza Sheffield, president of BlueStar. “This room is filled with energy, flavor and comfort and is a reflection of the way we live and what is important in our lives. Its functionality and design are always evolving, and appliances – from refrigerators to ovens – are constantly changing as well to fit today’s varied lifestyles.”

Five finalists also were honored for their designs and use of BlueStar appliances:

• Kristin Kostamo-McNeil – Anne Rae Design, San Diego

• Morgan Lepore – Payne & Payne, Chesterland, Ohio

• Debbie Nassetta – Roomscapes, Inc., Newport Beach, Calif.

• Garry & Suzanne Shumaker, Shumaker Design + Build Associates, Evanston, Ill.

• Gary Brown – Gary Brown Homes, Lee’s Summit, Miss.

Internationally acclaimed designer Eric Cohler – whose award-winning work is seen in projects throughout the U.S., Europe and the Caribbean – led the judging panel. Judges also included Kim Lewis, best known as the lead designer behind ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” and founder of Kim Lewis Designs in Austin, Texas, and Kendall Wilkinson, a California native who established her eponymous San Francisco firm in 1992 and creates bespoke residences with an emphasis on beauty and comfort.

The 2021 competition is open for entries from now through March 20, 2021. The kitchen design entry can be any style kitchen. A minimum of one BlueStar cooking appliance as the primary cooking appliance is required. Ranges, rangetops, refrigerators, gas and electric ovens and cooktops meet this requirement.
