BlueStar Induction Cooktop Wins 2019 GOOD DESIGN Award

January 22, 2020

BlueStar proudly announces that its induction cooktop has been honored with a 2019 GOOD DESIGN Award.  This prestigious award emphasizes quality design of the highest form, function and aesthetic.

The BlueStar 36-in. Induction Cooktop is intuitive to operate and offers many innovative design features, combining speed and control with rapid heat accelerator technology for no-wait cooking. It heats up to 50% faster than gas plus has a seamless two-burner bridging technology, perfect for grilling or searing with the corresponding cast iron dual zone griddle.

The cooktop combines efficient performance of induction with the precise control and powerful performance that is the hallmark of the BlueStar brand. The five burners feature three levels of heating power: standard, power boost or double power boost. The home chef has the ability to kick-start the cooking process on all cooking zones, boosting the power immediately for no-wait cooking and optimal flexibility. The industry-leading 5,500 watt burner can bring one gallon of water in a large pot to a rolling boil in only three and a half minutes. This increased, instantaneous temperature response means lightning-fast high heat.

“Design, performance and innovation have been at the core of the BlueStar brand for almost 140 years,” said Eliza Sheffield, president, BlueStar. “We are honored to be recognized with an award as prestigious as GOOD DESIGN for our commitment to innovation in the kitchen appliance category.”

For seven decades since its inception, The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design continues the organization of the program to create an awareness about contemporary design and to honor both products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing that have chartered new directions for innovation and pushed the envelope for competitive products in the world marketplace. Good Design was founded in Chicago in 1950 by Edgar Kaufmann, Jr., Eero Saarinen, and Charles and Ray Eames. Mort Goldsholl also created the iconic Good Design logo in 1950.

This year, the Museum received a record number of submissions from the world’s leading manufacturers and industrial and graphic design firms representing the most important and critical mass of influential corporations in the design industry from more than 47 countries.

The 2019 Good Design Jury was held in New York and Los Angeles and was composed of renowned international specialists with wide design experience, guaranteeing the high quality and high level of the competition. Submissions to the program are judged by a jury of distinguished design professionals and leading industry specialists and design press on criteria established in the original 1950 program for the highest aesthetic in terms of innovative design, new technologies, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility, and energy efficiency, and sensitivity to the environment.
