Viva Magenta, the Pantone Color of the Year, is a nuanced crimson red tone that presents a balance between warm and cool. It’s also a hybrid color, one that comfortably straddles the physical and virtual, evocative of our multi-dimensional world. Assertive but not aggressive, it is a carmine red that does not boldly dominate but instead takes a “fist in a velvet glove” approach. Exuding dynamism, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta is described as “a transformative red tone capable of driving design to create a more positive future.”

Manufacturers and designers are quick to offer their response to the new hue:

Laura Grilli, director of product design for Daltile, said “Daltile’s Berry in the new Stencil collection is a tile expression of Pantone’s Viva Magenta. I love pairing Berry with another Daltile color in the Stencil collection, Mint. This pairing adds a beautiful color blocking to a space’s design. I like the power of the contrast; it is really a mood booster!”

Focusing on the vital, optimistic transformative strength of Viva Magenta, Devon&Devon reinterprets the pure Victorian design of its Admiral cast iron bathtub, pairing it with the exuberant nature found in the Rio wallpaper, designed by Vito Nesta and inspired by prints of the era.

Sbordoni offers its Neoclassica console with the ceramic washbasin in Viva Magenta mounted on a metal structure with a polished chrome finish.

The JK21 faucet from Zazzeri features a bright coral-red cap on the handle of the tap. A standard color, it pairs well with the metal body, which is available in carbon, anthracite, bronzorame, rame, cognac and orobianco finishes.

Häcker Kitchens utilizes the RAL and NCS color systems, giving customers more than 1,900 color choices to coordinate their kitchen cabinets with the furnishings and interior of their home.

Officine Gullo combines the throughly modern Viva Magenta with one of its traditional ranges.

Upholstered in Viva Magenta velvet, the Dixie Stool from Jetclass adds a touch of luxe to home bars.

Big Chill turns up the heat with this retro refrigerator rendered in Raspberry Red.

The 48-in. dual fuel range with 12-in. griddle by BlueStar spices up the kitchen when customized in Viva Magenta.
