Walker Zanger Kiva Collection

July 20, 2021

Walker Zanger announces the launch of a new ceramic tile collection, Kiva. The handmade collection reflects the minimalism and warmth of the desert, drawing inspiration from both the natural and architectural elements found in these environments around the world. The collection emphasizes the transition toward designing with organic details that provide comfort and simplicity.

Kiva incorporates the Desert Modern style, combining clean lines with a warm palette of pink, beige, adobe and rust and accented by cool greens that reference high desert pines and cacti. The collection’s double-fire, glazed white body clay shapes portray the organic forms of jutting boulders, towering buttes and soft palm trees.

Kiva is handcrafted by artisans in Walker Zanger’s factory in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, a historic city and UNESCO World Heritage site known for its Baroque architecture and longstanding traditions in tilemaking. Walker Zanger was first drawn to the city more than 30 years ago when it started distributing the handmade creations of Cerámica Antique, a facility that Walker Zanger now operates with an emphasis on preserving local crafting techniques.

The Kiva collection is available in nine shapes, including modern Diamond, Triangle, Picket and Brick shapes, along with four mesh-mounted mosaics. The 4-by-4-in. size features a textured surface with a rich undertone of pooled glaze, displaying a rustic craftsmanship unique to the shape. The collection offers 10 gloss colors that can be combined to form unique mosaic patterns.

Kiva is a boutique collection available exclusively through Walker Zanger’s showrooms.
