The 6,000-sq.-ft. showroom housed in Canyon Creek Cabinet Company’s Monroe, Wash., headquarters has replaced 10 displays, including two conference rooms, to now thematically juxtapose its standard designs alongside custom pieces to highlight design potential.

“Not all displays can be replaced every two years, so you need to make sure there is a balance of timeless and trendy,” said Renee St. Peter, the project’s creative specialist. “For the most part the designs are transitional in style, with modern and on-trend elements that can be switched out as new colors and materials emerge.”

On Display
The updated showroom features the brand’s four cabinet lines: framed Cornerstone custom; frameless Millennia custom; frameless Katana value; and Closets Plus. Cornerstone makes a big showing with multiple kitchen displays. Framed black walnut cabinets are featured in one setting with Windsor-style doors and a toffee stain. A mantel-style hood and a variety of storage options appear in this display, as well as a backsplash with copper pennies. The second Cornerstone kitchen features banquette seating and graphite-stained raised panel Garrison doors. A wall bed display shows the Cornerstone Ridgewood-style door in red oak, finished with Icing paint and a licorice patina. Another Cornerstone display showcases a hickory vanity with Falmouth doors, naturally stained to match the floating wood shelves. Meanwhile, a double Katana vanity embraces a more modern style with flat Vista doors in dune and sea drift stains, and a Millennia laundry room stays neutral in thunder and ash paint.

Size Matters
Keeping traffic steady was imperative for St. Peter and her team, so they paid close attention to traffic patterns within the space.

“Each section of the showroom has two points of entry, and nothing that pulls out or down (like the wall bed) ever blocks an opening,” she explained. “The showroom design features two long corridors along the outside edges that run nearly the entire length of the space. Most of the divisions run cross-wise, creating an open feel with a nice flow.”

Even in a larger space, every inch mattered. St. Peter and her team consolidated by keeping closet products in one area along with the Katana cabinets.

“As we remodel each section of the showroom, we make sure there is a theme or style that is reflected in the space,” said St. Peter.

The large, colorful corbels of Cornerstone’s Ridgecrest cabinets represent more traditional elements, while white and gray cabinets in another section demonstrate cleaner designs. More variety was achieved in the meeting rooms. Carbonized bamboo Lanai cabinets allow the Millennia conference room to demonstrate its contemporary, linear qualities, while the Cornerstone meeting room features a rustic hutch to enhance the Valley Forge doors. Large conference room windows provide a view into the warehouse’s raw goods and mill department, contextualizing the size of the entire 285,000-sq.-ft. facility.
