Keynote Announced for Dwell on Design New York 2015

September 23, 2015

Dwell on Design returns to New York October 2 through 4 for a content-rich three-day event featuring installations and more than 35 onstage presentations from industry professionals. Dwell Design Week—running September 28 through October 4—will include a kickoff event, a 15th-anniversary party, showroom events, Dwell on Design and Meet the Architects night, accompanying the Dwell Manhattan Home Tour. The show’s growing footprint required a move to Skylight Clarkson Sq in West SoHo this year, where more than 5,000 visitors will explore 60,000 sq. ft. of installations and attend discussions on two stages.

On Friday, October 2, the keynote conversation at 6 p.m. will be led by Pulitzer Prize–winning author and Vanity Fair architecture critic Paul Goldberger in discussion with architect and principle of Eric Owen Moss Architects, Eric Owen Moss. The conversation will touch upon the architectural experimentation that defined 1970s and 1980s Los Angeles. Pioneered and influenced by Frank Gehry—the subject of Goldberger’s newest book, BUILDING ART—that movement signaled the ascension of the West Coast architecture school of thought, which many viewed as defiantly oppositional to the East Coast academic establishment. On Saturday, October 3, the show opens to both consumers and the trade at 10 a.m., with programming that includes consumer-friendly CEU opportunities until 6 p.m. The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, with a panel on “The New Skyscraper” with designer Dror Benshetrit closing the onstage programming.
