More Than 300 Ferguson Locations Feed the Need
June 28, 2017
More than 13 million children in the U.S. live in homes where they are unable to get enough nutritious food; more than half a million people are living on the streets, in cars or shelters; and nearly seven million dogs and cats enter shelters nationwide each year. Ferguson associates once again answered the call to support communities across the country. More than 300 locations, including the company’s headquarters, recently collected food, supplies and monetary donations for those in need as part of Ferguson’s fifth-annual Feed the Need campaign.
“Our associates are our best asset and I am continually inspired by their generosity and passion for giving back to our communities,” said CEO Frank Roach. “Ferguson’s culture of philanthropy spans the company’s 64-year history and it is through events like Feed the Need that our associates exemplify our Ferguson Cares mission to strengthen the communities where we live and work.”
The company’s headquarters, located in Newport News, Virginia, collected more than $11,000 and 4,400 pounds of food for the Peninsula SPCA and Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, providing nearly 45,000 meals. Other notable locations inclusions:
- Associates in Earth City, Missouri, collected food and supplies for flood victims in Valley Park. Through Circle of Concern, associates and our vendor partners, including Bay West, Georgia Pacific, Kimberly Clark and SCA Personal Care Division assisted those impacted by the recent floods.
- Richland, Washington Distribution Center associates (pictured) collected $1,550 and 4,600 pounds of food for the Tri-Cities Food Bank.
- Nashville, Tennessee Shared Purchasing Center used a team competition to encourage donations among its 25 associates, collecting 1,300 pounds of food – 1,083 meals – for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
Part of Ferguson‘s community engagement mission focuses on supporting the basic needs of our citizens, like hunger, housing and disaster relief. The company has existing partnerships with a variety of food banks, shelters and the American Red Cross.
