Design Holding Opens Flagship Store

March 11, 2024

The new home of Design Holding’s iconic brands is opening on 135 Madison Avenue in New York. A shared vision of European heritage, world-class design, craftsmanship and innovation in a unique destination in New York City, spanning over 25,000 square feet on two floors. The impressive project invites customers, architects, designers, and real estate developers, to share their passion in an immersive journey with B&B Italia, Flos, Louis Poulsen, Maxalto, Arclinea and Azucena. The space pays homage to the collections, the DNA of the brands, and to their origins, with a setup divided into distinct sections of the store, demonstrating how they can coexist harmoniously while enhancing one another through their diversity.

Each brand has a multichannel distribution and a strong history and robust presence in the US market since decades. Now, in this new era, this flagship store reimagines how to present a singular destination as a group, while preserving individual company identities that all have a shared purpose: “We design for a beautiful life.”

The brand-new second floor dedicated to Flos, Louis Poulsen and Arclinea, together with a new Maxalto space on the ground floor complementing the updated B&B Italia realm, harmoniously coexist culminating in the creation of an unparalleled venue, thus marking the birth of a distinctive landmark.

The second floor is designed by Lissoni Architecture New York. It is an avant-garde space defined by pure geometric volumes and elements. Honest and industrial materials follow a muted, neutral palette allowing the personality of product designs to be the protagonists.

On the first floor will be an impressive display of high-end living from B&B Italia featuring the Camaleonda sofa by Mario Bellini, the Tufty-Time seating system by Patricia Urquiola and the Alex table by Antonio Citterio, to name a few.

Upstairs will immerse customers in a world of lighting where they will take a journey through technical innovations and novelties from Flos and Louis Poulsen, experiencing the life light gives to a space.

To best serve the A&D community, Flos built a cutting-edge Lighting Design Room onsite for clients to test and experience lighting effects. They will have a dedicated lighting designer onsite to create individualized lighting solutions across decorative, outdoor, architectural, and bespoke lighting needs.

Louis Poulsen, the iconic Danish lighting brand, celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. Louis Poulsen’s first space in North America focuses on introducing visitors and customers not only to the products, but also to the Louis Poulsen heritage and design philosophy.

A sophisticated B&B Italia lounge will run between natural outdoor lighting displays from both Flos and Louis Poulsen and the second-floor space will be completed with a beautiful Arclinea kitchen and B&B Italia wardrobes.
