KraftMaid Cabinetry Launches Five New Courses
June 22, 2010
Start learning from the comfort of your home or office. KraftMaid is introducing five new online courses to provide both licensed and emerging architects and designers with current and helpful information.
“KraftMaid is delighted to give back to the design profession by offering state-of-the-art multimedia distance learning options, ideal for licensed architects, as well as interns just beginning their careers,” said Mark Johnson, FAIA, director of architect relations and education for KraftMaid. “New media options allow us to break old paradigms about how, when and where education is delivered.”
Two of the courses offered qualify for AIA, U.S. Green Building Council, American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) and National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) continuing education requirements. For AIA members, the courses will also qualify for Sustainable Design (SD) and Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) Learning Unit requirements. These two courses are “Re-Energizing an Icon: Transforming a ‘Mid-Century Modern’ House into a Green, Zero-Energy, 21st Century Home,” available at the McGraw-Hill Construction Continuing Education Center, and an examination of the 723 and 729 Spring Street LEED-certified projects in Ann Arbor, MI, available at AECDaily.com.
For emerging architects, designers and interns who are not yet required to earn continuing education units but want to further their learning, KraftMaid has developed a specialized curriculum accessed via smart phones, the Apple iPad, as well as computers. These on-the-go courses include a SketchUp Show episode that covers Universal Design kitchens, a case study that examines the Rivoli LEED Platinum home in Portland, OR, and a new screencast series for the “KraftMaid Education Channel at YouTube.”
