CEDIA has named the Americas region finalists for the 2019 CEDIA Home Technology Professional Awards competition. These awards recognize the top projects CEDIA home technology professional members have completed during the last year.

“The caliber of craftsmanship, style and creativity on display through the competition is amazing,” said Jenny Scott, CEDIA director of member engagement. “This year’s winners will feature some of the industry’s most stunning work from a diverse global community of professionals.”

KBB spoke with Guy Singleton, one of the panel judges and CEDIA Awards chair, to find out more about these smart home companies.

What the Judges Looked For
Singleton: “Overall we sought out technical excellence, and we ensure that home technology professionals are utilizing the latest industry standards. Beyond that we are searching for projects that break outside the mold – we’ve all seen projects with multi-room audio so when it comes to the finalists and award winners we are looking for innovative and creative designs that are well executed.”

What Stood Out from the Finalists
Singleton: “We continue to be blown away by how home technology professionals are taking extensive time to understand homeowners’ demands and in turn are creating a bespoke system that truly works for their every need. This year’s projects also did an excellent job incorporating newer emerging trends, such as immersive audio. It’s incredible to see how new technology has been implemented.”

What to Look Forward to at CEDIA
Singleton: “The CEDIA Award finalists and winners really showcase some of the best technology solutions from a design perspective. I think we will continue to see an increase in popularity for those products that blend into a home, and those solutions will certainly be on display at the show. CEDIA Expo showcases so much ingenuity, not just in the technology but also in the design of products that can enhance a homeowner’s lifestyle.”
