Devon&Devon Zelda Vanity

March 18, 2020

An homage to unconventional femininity and the irresistible charisma of the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald and muse of The Great Gatsby, Zelda from Devon&Devon is a vanity table that revisits the classic bedroom dresser in a contemporary key. The dresser frame is defined by the sinuous lines of tops and side doors and by the rounded shapes of the semicircular handles that close with a circle and by the round circumference of the big central mirror having a diameter of 1 meter. The thin and slender legs of the table are made of natural brass, the same material used for the profiles, which are rounded as well, and gently accompany the curvatures of the tops and doors, while also encircling the diamond mirror and the base of the velvet footstool. The countertop is in cremo-extra marble with bright pale-yellow veins. Under the main top, between the two drawers, one of which is a ring holder, there is a pull-out top covered with velvet.

Devon&Devon offers French-polished doors and drawers in three versions. The first is made of an intense powder pink with tones of mauve – this is a shade that Zelda Fitzgerald loved and frequently described in her stories. The second consists of a cream white that emphasizes the formal purity of the vanity table, enhancing the high contrast with the golden light of the brass elements. The third is characterized by a thin two-tone, zig-zag pattern inspired by Art Deco, with fragmented and irregular lines that recall the materiality of twill fabrics. All colors can be customized upon request.
