Lighting brand Slamp celebrates the 10th anniversary of one of its most iconic collections, Clizia, by presenting it in an unprecedented and precious gold version — Clizia Mama non Mama Gold.
Designed by Adriano Rachele, Clizia – whose name refers to the mythological nymph who, rejected by the Sun god, was transformed into a sunflower – embodies the vision and DNA of the brand. Ever oriented towards rethinking the world of lighting through sculptural objects, Slamp is able to combine structured and complex forms with an unexpected lightness.
Clizia, whose configuration evokes the geometry of the natural world, is made by hand, interlocking square elements of Opalflex or Cristalflex, a recyclable material that is, at the same time, extremely light and very strong. Esthetically and conceptually, the Clizia Mama non Mama Gold hints to the shape of a flower: mama non mama is, in fact, the Italian name for the traditional lovers’ poetic game loves me-loves me not.
Research and experimentation are of paramount importance in this collection, and they also characterize the gilding finishing process. While, until now, the gilding process was achieved by metalizing the technopolymer, with this project Slamp explores for the first time an innovative technology, involving the cold application on the material of a two-sided golden foil capable of giving the surface a refined texture with a craquelé effect. Thanks to the latter, which delicately reproduces with its fine cracks the texture of human skin, the ‘petals’ of the luminous objects acquire an extra thickness and materiality, allowing light to filter through in a wide range of effects reminiscent of the warmth of sunlight.
Available as suspension, wall and ceiling models – mini, medium and large – and a table-top version with rechargeable battery and a base in black or white, Clizia Mama non Mama Gold is also presented in a majestic oversize suspension version with a diameter of 130 cm. The project’s unique and enveloping design explodes, giving rise to an object with an impalpable yet powerful identity, capable of integrating itself for its spectacularity into the most classic, as well as the most contemporary spaces.
