Varaluz Lighting introduces Machina, part of its new Smithsonian Illuminated collection, created in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex. Calling to mind those adventurous early days of aviation, Machina pairs sinuous steel edges reminiscent of propeller blades with rattan texture—the embodiment of Heritage Modern style. 

With Machina, classic design and aviation-inspired concepts come together to elevate the look of any room. A propellor motif meets mid-century aesthetics and Tiki accouterments to create a style that soars. Get ready to fly away to mod Polynesia every time you flip on the switch. Machina features sealed natural and sustainable rattan over black recycled steel. It is available in matte black finish with single or multi-light pendants.  

The new Varaluz Lighting collection is inspired by historic imagery and artifacts from the Smithsonian archives. From sinuous airplane propellers to delicate botanical illustrations, Smithsonian images informed the designs of the seven new lighting collections and five home décor collections in the line.
