Two empty-nesters wanting an upgrade in their master suite looked to designer Toni Saccoman of Ridgewood, N.J.-based Ulrich Inc. to reference the luxury hotels they love in the design of their new bath.
Even though Saccoman was asked to keep the same footprint as the original bath, which had two separate rooms with the tub/vanity room much larger than the other, she made them feel more proportional with her material selections and the placement of objects like the tub.
A marble “rug” connects the two spaces, as it was used throughout the large room – on the floor of the shower, in front of the toilet and even in the hallway outside.
“As a focal point in the large room, a sleek, black tub with sexy ‘Marilyn Monroe curves’ was placed directly in front of the large window and adorned with elegant black and silver fixtures,” said the designer.
After a seldom-used linen closet was reduced in size, the shower was widened to accommodate a bench, a rain showerhead and a niche.
The new shower/toilet room boasts a bidet toilet, which was one of the clients’ requests.
The vanity has a subtle Art Deco look because of its antique-style hardware and faucets. The couple each has their own three-drawer cabinet – plus three additional cabinets to share.
