Designer Meghan Browne of Bethesda, Md.-based Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath was tasked with making this formerly outdated and enclosed bathroom into the organic and modern space it is today.
The original bath was out of place with the home’s mid-century modern style, and it was lacking in light and storage.
The placement of the plumbing itself did not change, but removing two walls – one by the shower and one holding a hot water heater – significantly opened up the space.
In the redesign, Browne created a floating vanity to add to the bath’s newly opened layout without sacrificing storage space.
The freestanding tub is angled toward the picture window, which looks out on the surrounding forest.
The handcrafted ceramic tile with a detailed floral design echoes the trees outside the window.
The lighting below the cabinet and around the vanity mirrors further accentuates the open, airy space under the vanity.
