Duravit USA Names Winners in Annual Designer Dream Bath Competition
BUILT WINNER: David Gonzalez Blanco of Miami-based Billy Blanco Design
“The open concept of this bay-front master suite features wide-plank, oiled, oak wood floors that are echoed in the painted shiplapped walls and ceiling, which elongate the views through the suite toward the wet bath area. The vaulted ceiling allows for maximum space and illumination, which blurs the lines between the sleeping, washing and dressing areas.” – Gonzalez Blanco

“The Duravit Architec Basin was chosen for its unique, diagonal shape and ability to create more space for the user in the powder room. The Durastyle Toilet was specified for its simple shape and clean lines. Both elevated the powder room into becoming one of the main features in the house.” – Falkenberg
UNBUILT WINNER: Masoud Mahboobullah and Chris Bouzo of Toronto-based Frevent Design
“The existing bathroom is a master bath in a 3,000-sq.-ft. house. Despite it being large, it’s void of any design elements. We’re hoping to turn the use of the bathroom into an experience of luxe simplicity with a variety of Duravit products.” – Bouzo

UNBUILT HONORABLE MENTION: Jen Wood and Emanuel Admassu of New York City-based AD-WO
“The proposed bathroom is located within a 120-year-old home in Rhode Island. On the third floor, it gets bright sunlight, yet it is very small, which is further constrained by ‘Jack-and-Jill’ doors on opposite walls.” – Wood

“The deep ocean blue of the glazed tile references a historical New England palette, creating a dramatic backdrop for the bright white fixtures. The Brioso Mirror Cabinet capitalized on the limited wall space while glowing serenely.” – Wood
