The primary challenge of this whole-house remodel was to incorporate a mid-century modern aesthetic into a house designed in the 1990s. Designer Leslie Dohr of Milwaukee-based Deep River Partners made this dramatic change happen.
The master bathroom suite was redesigned with a functional layout and a natural focal point – the freestanding tub.
A new curved soffit and natural window treatments soften the harsh angles in the original ceiling.
The accent wall in the shower features the same glass mosaic tile from the sink vanity areas, and the wood-look porcelain tile in the main bathroom space continues onto the shower floor.
A separate makeup area with seating appeals to the wife in the family.
The original compartmentalized breakfast room and small kitchen were combined to allow the kitchen to act as a gathering area.
To continue the mid-century modern look, the designer chose organic materials like natural fiber for both the bar stools and the window coverings.
