The dull, beige shower was replaced by a large walk-in unit with 1-in. by 1-in. mosaic tiles in relaxing green hues and extras like a low corner shelf and a recessed niche. The Hansgrohe showerhead provides water efficiency.
Removing a large, unsightly bathtub that was much too big for the space was the first step in creating a functional master bathroom that now offers plenty of elbowroom. Large white field tile on the floors imparts a streamlined, modern space.
To maximize functionality, designer Sheryl Steinberg of Steinberg Interior Design added a partially recessed wall cabinet that includes a combination duplex receptacle and USB charger inside and underneath.
Steinberg chose small, iridescent, mosaic glass tile in green hues to cover two of the four walls, including the one opposite the southern-facing window.
The spa atmosphere continues in the spacious walk-in shower, which took the place of an old sliding-door shower.
