A homeowner in Tennessee wanted a more modern, luxurious bath with a freestanding tub that retains heat and offers a sleek, modern profile. Designer Rebecca Robinson of Monarch Lane Interiors made this possible by removing the wing walls around the former sunken tub.
For sustainable design elements, Robinson and her team used locally produced tile in a strong porcelain for the countertops and a local craftsman for the cabinetry. The new footprint allows for a longer vanity, as improved storage was high on the wish list.
“My favorite part of this luxurious bath was the waterfall bronze waterfall tile feature in the shower,” said Robinson. “It really balances the rich cabinetry and has that wow affect when you walk in the room.”
“With all that tile, the client did not want the room to be cold, so we added Schluter‘s Ditra-Heat, electric floor warming system,” said the designer. “We were able to customize heating zones and warm the entire room.”
To make the room feel larger, the designer used the same tile in matte on the floor and glossy for the walls. A light, white palette with ample natural light helps open things up and provides an airier look and feel.
