This formerly 1990s-dated kitchen addition needed a desperate update to connect with the rest of the home and suit the busy family that lives there. Designer Scott Dresner of Chicago-based Dresner Design worked to accommodate their many needs while providing a transitional style.
The space is narrow, so the design team created a very slim island around which traffic can flow.
The stainless steel appliances and the gray backsplash complete the kitchen’s transitional gray-and-white palette.
This multifunctional mudroom features a laundry area, a dog shower and organization storage for coats, shoes and backpacks.
“The eating area is very cool,” said Dresner. “The banquette maximizes space and adds interest while accommodating more storage below and to the sides.”
Formerly the butler’s pantry, this wine bar holds additional storage and a buffet space out of the way of the main cooking area.
