With a 70s interior but a prime spot on Lake Michigan, this bachelor pad needed a major facelift to fit the homeowner’s modern lifestyle.

“My professional design goal for the space was to create an interior that would allow my client to be motivated and inspired by being inside of his home,” said designer Shane Inman, who hails from the New York-based Inman Company.

The highlight of the kitchen is the island, which is double height with a lower, stainless steel countertop and a higher granite top.

One side of the island countertop descends to the floor, but the other side finishes short at one end to expose the materials behind it.

The homeowner had an affinity with stainless steel, so Inman incorporated a stainless steel countertop, backsplash and sink in the island.
Because there was so much natural lighting in the space, Inman stained the Zebrawood cabinets a rich red and dark brown to balance the space.
