When Walker Zanger outgrew its Mt. Vernon, N.Y., location, the company redesigned a Port Chester, N.Y., space to better handle more products, a larger crane and more effective office space.
Marking the company’s 14th showroom, this new 21,000-sq.-ft. location in Port Chester includes an extensive 14,000-sq.-ft. slab gallery, 4,200-sq.-ft. showroom and can accommodate 15-20 employees.
The upper floor of the showroom is dedicated to office space.
A bathroom was added to the lower level to both accommodate local codes as well as enable a second working display. The women’s bathroom features the Luxor columns of the Robert A.M. Stern Collection in white and is appointed with brass details. The men’s bathroom features the Sterling Row collection, conveying a far more masculine feel.
“As clients enter through the showroom, they are met with a soaring two-story space flooded with light and our most exciting product, which is organized into zones per product category: stone, porcelain, ceramic, and specialty stone,” said Kim Bernard, executive director of facilities design at Walker Zanger.
“Each one of our showrooms has something architecturally unique,” said Bernard. “In this location, it is both the two-story entry space as well as the curved ceilings in each showroom zone.”
The exterior of the showroom draws in clients with its modern architecture and expansive windows.
