Gaggenau, the luxury brand for professional-grade home appliances and the “Official Home Kitchen Appliance Brand of the Michelin Guide,” has announced the induction of seven chefs of Michelin-starred New York restaurants into the Gaggenau Black Jacket Society. Gaggenau created this special recognition program to celebrate chefs whose restaurants have attained Michelin Star status and who reflect the principles and philosophy of the Gaggenau brand.

On Oct. 7, Gaggenau hosted its first New York Black Jacket Society event at the iconic Peak Lounge inside 30 Hudson Yards. The following chefs were inducted:

  • Chef Eric Ripert, Le Bernadin, Three Michelin Stars
  • Chef Daniel Humm, Eleven Madison Park, Three Michelin Stars
  • Chef Emma Bengtsson, Aquavit, Two Michelin Stars
  • Chef Fredrik Berselius, Aska, Two Michelin Stars
  • Chef Daniel Boulud, Daniel, Two Michelin Stars
  • Chef Junghyun Park, Atomix, Two Michelin Stars
  • Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Jean-Georges, Two Michelin Stars (unable to attend)

“We are so pleased to welcome these incredibly talented chefs into our Black Jacket Society,” said Heather Ryan, director of marketing and sales, Gaggenau North America. “As a part of our Michelin partnership, we recognize this special group of chefs who embody the professional kitchen principal and, like Gaggenau, strive for perfection and deliver classically inspired dishes — doing so with a particular grace and elegance commensurate with the Gaggenau brand.”

Since 1683, Gaggenau has been forging not just iron and metal, but a foundational philosophy called the Professional Kitchen Principle, dictating that cooking equipment, much like ingredients, must be of the highest quality and contribute to the finished dish.

In 2022, Gaggenau has held Black Jacket Society events in four cities in conjunction with the Michelin Star Reveal events – Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and New York. Recognized chefs receive a specially made black Bragard Professional Chef jacket, embroidered with their name and the Gaggenau logo. Each will be invited to participate in a variety of VIP Gaggenau programs and events around the country and are highlighted on the Gaggenau website.
