Granite Scraps Repurposed For Good

October 04, 2010

Top Master Inc., a countertop fabricator, has been recognized by Habitat ReStore of Kansas City as one its largest contributors. Habitat ReStore accepts donations of new and used building materials from individuals, contractors and retailers. The materials are then made available to the public at a deeply discounted price.

Habitat ReStore operates on the philosophy: "People, Planet and Profit." ReStore, which seeks to be a positive steward of natural resources and energy, helps divert thousands of tons of useable building materials from landfills each year and offer them to consumers at discounted prices. ReStore profits are transferred to the Habitat for Humanity Kansas City affiliate to further its mission.

Since 2008, Top Master, an Artisan Group member, has partnered with Habitat Restore to coordinate picking up its leftover granite pieces and select remnants. Customers can then purchases the pieces that are ideal for vanity, small bar or table tops. To date, these donations have kept in excess of 91,000 tons of scrap material out of the landfill and generated more than $50,000 for Habitat Restore.
