Regional Winners in Sub-Zero and Wolf's Design Contest Announced

Sub-Zero and Wolf announced that Atlanta-based designers Barbara Westbrook of Westbrook Interiors and Roger Wade DeWeese of Peachtree Architects are among the 54 national and international regional winners in its Kitchen Design Contest. Seven industry professionals evaluated more than 1,600 entries to determine the winning finalists who best used Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances in their kitchen designs.


“This marks our 10th Kitchen Design Contest, and it has become the most highly regarded award program in the kitchen design industry,” said Michele Bedard, vice president of marketing for Sub-Zero and Wolf. “This contest is our way of honoring the design community and the significant role they play in making Sub-Zero and Wolf a household name when it involves beautiful kitchen design. These regional winners truly represent achievement in kitchen design.”


Regional winner Barbara Westbrook launched her interior design firm Westbrook Interiors in 1992 after designing under the tutelage of Nancy Braithwaite and Gandy-Peace. Westbrook strives to provide both luxury and comfort in her designs. Channeling CoCo Chanel in her interior designs, Westbrook likens her designs to the “little black dress” in that “our interiors are effortlessly elegant, comfortably tailored and always classic.” Tying in these attributes with the home’s “simple, charming detailing of early American farmhouses” tone and including modern amenities, Westbrook’s winning design submission to the Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest completed a functional family space. “I appreciate very much being selected as a regional winner,” said Westbrook. “I love to design kitchens, and the acknowledgement of those skills means a great deal to me.”
 
At Peachtree Architects, regional winner Roger Wade DeWeese is creative director and managing principal of the design studio. His projects range from residential to commercial, and he believes the freshest ideas come from overlapping experience of the creative fields. “Sub-Zero and Wolf represent the pinnacle of kitchen equipment, the latest in food storage and preparation technology,” said DeWeese. “To be recognized by their organization for one of my kitchen designs is the highest compliment.” DeWeese’s winning design submission exemplified the principles of classic proportions and style that can be applied to any type of design ranging from modern to traditional to eclectic. “I think the most exquisite designs find a balance between exuberance and restraint, masculine and feminine,” said DeWeese.

Regional winners receive a trip to Sub-Zero and Wolf’s Madison, Wis.-based headquarters to attend the national Kitchen Design Contest gala and award ceremony. There, more than $140,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winning designers.
