The NKBA Elects 2012 President & Executive Committee

The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) has announced the election results for the 2012 NKBA executive committee, which will be led by 2012 president Alan W. Zielinski, CKD of Niles, IL.

Additional members of the executive committee include John K. Morgan of Glyndon, MD, as president-elect; John A. Petrie, CMKBD, of Mechanicsburg, PA, as VP; Carolyn F. Cheetham, CMKBD, of Red Deer, AB, Canada, was elected treasurer; and Clay Lyon, CR, will serve as secretary. David Alderman, CMKBD, is the immediate past president.

Alan W. Zielinski (pictured) is the president and CEO of Better Kitchens, Inc., a 50-year-old design firm located outside Chicago. With 25 years of kitchen and bath experience, Zielinski is active within the NKBA and has served as a chapter president and as a member of the Board of Directors.

The new president-elect John Morgan, is a 20-year kitchen and bath veteran. A manufacturer’s representative, consultant, trainer and speaker, he has served on advisory councils of industry manufacturers, as well as Virginia Tech. He currently represents nationally known cabinet and technology companies through his Baltimore/Washington-based agency, Morgan Pinnacle.

The committee’s VP, John A. Petrie, has been working in the kitchen and bath industry since 1987, designing custom kitchens, bathrooms, home offices, wine cellars and home theaters. Petrie is the owner of MH Custom Cabinetry in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Treasurer Carolyn Cheetham became a Certified Kitchen Designer in 1995, a Certified Bathroom Designer in 1996, and a Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer in 2006. Through her business, Design Works by Cheetham, she uses her skills as an architectural technologist and CMKBD to design complete house plans and renovation projects.

Secretary Clay Lyon is the owner and operator of Lyon Construction+Design, a residential remodeling company he founded in 2002. With an educational background in science and mathematics, and a master’s degree in business administration, his career in home remodeling and construction began in 1987. His professional experience includes work in environmental and energy conservation consulting, real estate development, custom wood furniture-making and business consulting.
