WaterSmart Innovations Announces Keynote Speakers

May 28, 2010

The WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition has announced its keynote speakers for 2010: author and promoter of sustainable development Hunter Lovins and journalist Steven Solomon.

Lovins will keynote the opening session. She is the president and founder of Natural Capitalism Solutions and co-founder of the Rocky Mountain Institute and California Conservation Society. She developed the Economic Renewal Project and is a founding professor of business at Presidio Graduate School, as well as co-author of nine books and hundreds of papers.

The following day, Solomon will keynote the conference’s luncheon. Along with writing for The New York Times, BusinessWeek, The Economist, Forbes and Esquire, Solomon is the author of Water: The Epic Struggle for Wealth, Power and Civilization. The book hypothesizes about a world in which fresh water has replaced oil as the primary cause of global conflict.

The third annual WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition, hosted by the Southern Nevada Water Authority, will take place October 6-8. The conference and exposition is in partnership with eight other water conservation groups, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense program. It will showcase new water-efficient technology and provide educational sessions.

Last year, the show featured more than 130 sessions and 100 exhibitors, with just less than 1,200 attendees. For more information, visit
