Because the client requested symmetry in the space, a highlight of the new bath is the vanity area, where twin floating cabinets and a pair of 6-ft.-tall custom mirrors in gilded metal frames flank a shapely freestanding tub to form a balanced composition. Shimmering white grass cloth covers the backsplash and is accented with gold sconces, while a wall in white Calacatta Gold marble serves as the backdrop to the tub and contains a fireplace added not only for visual interest but also as a counterbalance to the coolness of the stone. A smaller shower is tiled in the same marble, as is a toilet room situated across from it and similarly sized for perfect symmetry.
